Lighthouse Point Dive Resort in Grand Cayman.
Sustainability

Lighthouse Point is the first eco resort on Grand Cayman. Powered entirely by energy from “clean” sources, the resort is also registered as a member of the US Green Building Council. The majority of the power is generated from solar panels that line the roof of the resort and this is boosted by a wind generator which can be found just off the dock.

Energy efficient lighting in used throughout and a four day power storage facility ensures that guest are never in danger of running low.  Appliances and air conditioning are all energy rated environmentally friendly.

 

Location

Lighthouse Point is located on the shoreline of the northwest tip of Grand Cayman within a sleepy district called West Bay.  Seven Mile Beach is a five minute drive south and another ten minutes or so will bring you to Owen Roberts airport or Georgetown. We are based on the opposite side of the island to Rum Point but with the size of Grand Cayman being so convenient, even this popular day trip is only an hours drive away.

Onsite café/restaurant, dive centre, sea pool, dock, ladder entrances, outside shower, gear lockers, wash tanks, communal areas, BBQ area.

Vivo

Vivo is the perfect restaurant to complement the sustainability mission of Lighthouse Point. Under the ownership and management of Italian Michele Zama, Vivo managed to rank No1 on Trip Advisor for the Cayman Islands in their first year of business. The restaurant uses locally sourced organic produce where possible and has a dynamic menu that evolves with seasonal availability.

In addition to their minimal carbon footprint approach to cooking, Vivo only use environmentally friendly cleaning products, have cutlery made of acacia wood and donate money to re-forestation projects every time someone buys a bottle of wine.

Vivo is predominantly a vegetarian/vegan restaurant, the only “great” exception to this is the fresh, locally caught lionfish which Miki’s chefs specialize in cooking.
